Fair Trade Issues

Fair trade and ethical issues are important to us. We seek to source our garments from ethical manufacturers - and all the suppliers we use conform to recognised trading practise and labour laws in their countries of operation. We will continue to support the aims and ethical concerns of the various fair trade bodies.

Supplier Policies

Gildan

Gildan is a vertically-integrated marketer and manufacturer of quality branded basic apparel. Gildan is the leading supplier of activewear for the wholesale imprinted sportwear market in the U.S. and Canada, and also a leading supplier to this market in Europe.

Gildan announced that the Fair Labor Association's (FLA) Board of Directors voted at its meeting on June 13, 2007 to accord its accreditation status to Gildan's labour compliance program. Participating companies in the FLA are eligable for accreditation after a three-year period during which the FLA verifies their compliance with its workplace code of conduct requirements. Accreditation is the FLA's most advanced recognition of a company's labour compliance program.

In April 2004, Gildan became the first manufacturer catering to the wholesale imprinted activewear market to obtain the Oeko-tex Standard 100 certification, the most internationally recognized eco-label designation in the textile supply chain. A rigorous process comprising over 100 individual tests is required to achieve the standard. It ensures that the production process and the textiles themselves pose no risk to the human body through skin contact, ingestion or inhalation, thereby offering consumers maximum confidence in terms of health and environmental implications when buying textiles.
